I love this app. It's so easy to use and you can make awesome artwork on it. The addition of text outlines and star and polygon tools were just what the doctor ordered. The only thing I think it needs now is the ability to create outlines out of paths. Awesome app!

Best iPad vector app yet

I have worked most of the other vector apps available, and while some were nice they all seemed to be lacking in some core way that pretty much rendered them unusable. Add to that glacially slow updates, and I had pretty much given up on vector art on the iPad. Until Inkpad.

While not perfect (but discussions with the developer reveal that those features may be coming soon), Inkpad is still an impressive vector app for any platform, not just the iPad. And this is coming from a full-time illustrator who works in Adobe Illustrator CS5 all day.

The key to any vector app is usability. I'm glad to say that I feel as if I could actually create final artwork right on my iPad using Inkpad. Template layers, multiple layers, and most of the tools one needs for any basic vector workflow are here.

The only downsides I've encountered are: no "outline" mode, no control over layer opacity (especially for the template layers, they get a fixed transparency level), and the lack of the ability to place new anchor points on an existing path (this the developer told me was coming soon).

Otherwise, I am thoroughly impressed with Inkpad, and for the $2 price this one's a no-brainer, even if you just want to give it a try.

Finally, vector art on the iPad done right.

Update: since my original review, just about all the features I felt were lacking in Inkpad have been implemented to some degree. Outline mode has been added, layer transparency as well as adding points to paths. In fact, with the new 1.2 upgrade, there's very little I'd like to see added as far as features.

The implementation of some features could be refined, but I'm just glad they are there in some form. SVG import is coming soon, and if we see some Dropbox integration there might be some very interesting workflow possibilities between Inkpad and desktop vector apps.

If you're looking for a vector art app for the iPad, Inkpad is hand down the winner now.

Great new additions

This app just keeps getting better - impressive work. The developers started with the core features you need to start drawing, and have progressively added tools and features to make it closer and closer to the depth of capabilities of a desktop-class drawing app, but with the ease of use of an iPad app. I've been consistently impressed with each iteration.

Buy it now - you won't be disappointed.
